Abstract

This study identified the component factors of Quality of Work Life (QWL) in Korean firms and analyzed whether there are differences in QWL component factors according to industry type and individual-level demographic characteristics. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, the QWL component factors in Korean firms were found to consist of seven factors: compensation and working conditions, supervision, overall employee satisfaction, job characteristics, coworker relations, fringe benefits, and organizational management. Second, significant differences in QWL component factors were found according to industry type, gender, age, and educational level. The results of this study can serve as useful empirical data for future research and can provide a logical basis for QWL programs appropriate for Korean firms.
