Abstract
This study analyzed the effects of knowledge-sharing types at the business group level on affiliate performance using organizational learning theory, targeting 325 affiliates within 62 chaebol groups in South Korea. According to the results of this study, while explorative technological innovation knowledge sharing within chaebols did not have a significant effect on affiliate performance, exploitative technological innovation knowledge sharing tended to have a positive and significant effect. However, both radical and incremental management innovation knowledge sharing were found to have positive and significant relationships with firm performance. Furthermore, this study found an appropriate balance between radical management innovation and incremental management innovation within chaebols. These results collectively suggest that, at the business group level, management innovation sharing exhibits a more dynamic and appropriately balanced pattern of knowledge sharing than does technological innovation sharing.
