Abstract
The purpose of this study is to utilize the Rokeach Paradigm to: (1) examine the existence and classifiability of terminal values and instrumental values; (2) identify the substructure of each value system; (3) analyze the relationship between terminal values and instrumental values; and (4) examine differences in values according to demographic characteristics. The results of this study confirmed the existence of terminal values and instrumental values, demonstrated that classification was feasible, and revealed the sub-dimensions of each value type. It was also confirmed that there is a high correlation between terminal values and instrumental values. Furthermore, through analysis of variance on the factors of terminal values and instrumental values, variables showing significant differences were subjected to Scheffé tests to analyze specific differences. The applicability of these research findings was discussed so that they may serve as foundational data for future applied research.
