Abstract

Although domestic privacy research has been increasing quantitatively in recent years, it remains qualitatively underdeveloped. There is a need to collect privacy studies conducted domestically, assess how this research has progressed to date, and discuss the directions future research should take. Accordingly, this study conducted a meta-analysis by collecting domestic literature centered on the privacy concern construct, which has been used as a core concept in privacy research. Studies were integrated based on the measurement models of privacy concern, and the relationships between privacy concern and other factors were closely examined. The findings revealed that, while antecedents of privacy concern do not appear as diversely as in the international literature, they can be broadly categorized into individual characteristics, counterpart entity characteristics, social characteristics, and informational characteristics. Furthermore, the privacy concern construct has predominantly been measured as a unidimensional concept, and multidimensional approaches have mainly relied on the CFIP and IUIPC models. Although the application of multidimensional measurement models has been increasing over time, there remain numerous cases where measurement has been conducted indiscriminately without a clear understanding. This study is expected to contribute to the advancement of domestic privacy research by presenting an overall overview of research trends in the field.
