Abstract
This study redesigns the Kaplan-Meier Estimator, primarily used in clinical trial analysis, to propose a methodology that facilitates the analysis of service delivery systems in service organizations. The methodology presented in this study enables the analysis of service attributes as perceived by customers at service encounters within the service delivery system, rather than identifying service attributes through a multi-dimensional, integrative approach—the predominant approach in the field of service operations management. A case analysis was conducted by applying the methodology to a diet oriental medicine hospital for the purpose of validating the service delivery system analysis methodology. This study can be characterized as research that identifies service attributes using a systems approach or process modularity concepts primarily applied in manufacturing.
