Abstract
In recent management research, the use of structural equation modeling (SEM) has been increasing in published papers due to its advantages of being able to statistically evaluate models with complex relationships among latent variables while controlling for measurement error. This statistical technique is expected to continue to be usefully employed in investigating and resolving diverse problems across many domains of management studies for a considerable period. In this study, we examined a total of 97 SEM papers published in the Korean Management Review to date and analyzed how important methodological issues are being addressed in three areas: model development, model estimation, and model evaluation. Based on this analysis, we reviewed the overall problems and directions for improvement in SEM applications found in management empirical research, thereby providing guidelines for desirable SEM application to researchers who intend to use SEM in the future.
