Abstract
Currently, Korean firms are engrossed in corporate restructuring. However, they must move beyond bandwagon-style restructuring driven by the mentality of "doing it because others are doing it," or restructuring merely as a means of raising funds through real estate sales. That is, restructuring should be undertaken not as a short-term coping measure but as part of a long-term growth strategy. Accordingly, what is needed is restructuring as a competitive weapon that looks to the future and as a form that facilitates transactions with customers. Such restructuring must be pursued in conjunction with a paradigm shift that breaks free from past conventional thinking and seeks new ways of conducting business.
