Abstract

Recently, foreign direct investment by Korean firms has surged due to changes in the domestic and international business environment. This study attempts to identify the factors affecting the business performance of Korean manufacturing firms' foreign direct investment at the individual firm level and to test their relative importance. The research results suggest that selecting developing countries as investment target countries, maintaining a high R&D intensity, and investing in industries with high local production growth rates are important for the success of foreign investment.
